The Real Meaning of Christmas?
I want to first thank all of you that have continued to send me positive thoughts and well wishes regarding my recent knee surgery. It isn’t going as well as I hoped/expected it would, but it’s still early in the process and I just have to stay positive and be patient and let nature take its course. All I can do at this point is make the best of it.
Changing the topic to something a little cheerier, I want to talk about Christmas, and more specifically, Christmas presents. It’s that time of year when everyone wants to know what you want, and you’re scrambling around trying to get stuff for everyone. I find the whole process to be pretty darn stressful and really annoying.
To me, thinking up what to get people is harder than actually going out and getting it. And the part that really gets to me is that a lot of the time, we’re getting people things that they don’t need and will never use again. Know what I mean?
My mom thought of a great way to handle the whole song and dance that is so cool that I wanted to share it with all of you in case you can want to borrow it.
This Friday, we are hosting a Christmas party. On the invitation, my mom made it perfectly clear that she doesn’t want any presents this yea. Instead, when guests arrive, there will be four collection jars, each for a different charity that my mom wants to support. Guests are encouraged to donate a check to one of them. At the end of my party, as her reciprocal Christmas gift, she will match all the checks.
I think that is such a good freakin’ idea. This way, it takes away the whole process of buying useless stuff and benefits those that really need it—the perfect win-win. My mom is awesome, and I think she definitely nailed it with this one.
If you ask me, this gesture really captures the true meaning of Christmas. I want to encourage you to borrow this idea for your own purposes.
That’s all I’ve got today. Nothing training-related, but to me, this is something far more important.
Please pass this idea along to others to spread the good word

And lastly, please don’t forget to test your pushups and inverted rows and let me know the results.
